St. Martha's Brasserie d'Orléans

An excellent classic burger, very good fries and the best service of our journey so far, all in a quiet setting that felt completely different from our usual pub stops.

The field report

St. Martha’s delivered one of the strongest classic burgers we have tried. It was straightforward thick burger, well executed with only 1 drawback. Can we stop being too fancy and putting spring greens on a burger? Regardless, at $21, it also felt fairly priced for the quality.

The fries were another strong part of the meal and paired well with the classic burger. Nothing beats a well done shoestring fry. Fitz and I seem to agree on a lot of things, and that's one of them.

The service was easily the highlight of the visit. It went above and beyond what we had experienced at any of our previous stops and made the entire evening feel welcoming from beginning to end. The restaurant itself was also a refreshing change from the louder pubs and bars we usually visit. It was quiet, intimate and different in a way that worked, making it feel well suited for a special night out.

There may not be one unusual detail that defines St. Martha’s, but there was almost nothing to criticize either. Between the excellent burger, strong fries, comfortable atmosphere and exceptional service, it is an easy place for us to recommend.

A solid, straightforward whiskey sour with no major issues. It was enjoyable overall, but it felt like one element was missing, keeping it from being particularly memorable.

I thought the burger was an excellent version of a classic. It did not need anything unusual to stand out because everything it did was done well.

The service and quiet atmosphere went a long way. But a juicy, and clearly fresh made burger was the biggest star. I may need to clarify a potential bias as my lovely mother is a server here.

The combined verdict

8.4

We both agreed that St. Martha’s delivered an excellent classic burger supported by very good fries and the best service we had experienced up to that point. The quiet, intimate atmosphere made it stand apart from our usual stops, earning it a confident recommendation.
