Chez Lucien

One of the strongest burgers from our journey, paired with excellent fries and a timeless Market pub atmosphere. The higher prices did little to weaken the experience.

The field report

Venturing outside Orléans, Chez Lucien was a highly recommended joint. This was our first proper burger review in the Market, and it did not disappoint. The burger finished close to the top of everything we had reviewed up to this point.

We chose the most classic burger on the menu, and it delivered exactly the kind of experience we wanted. It was juicy, plenty of sauce and that desirable bun we are always looking for. This again would have had a higher score if they took that damn spring lettuce off of it. At $22, the burger was on the more expensive side, but the quality helped justify it.

The atmosphere captured everything we enjoy about a classic pub. It felt timeless, comfortable and full of character, while the very good service completed the experience. It was easy to understand why Chez Lucien feels like a staple for people living around the Market.

Chez Lucien does not need to overcomplicate anything, so make it a 9.5 burger and take off those spring greens. Regardless, it knows exactly what kind of restaurant it is and executes that experience extremely well. Between the excellent burger, outstanding fries, strong service and memorable atmosphere, this was an easy recommendation.

The whiskey sour report.

5.8

The whiskey sour was not a standout and did little to elevate the experience. It was acceptable for a pub, but cocktails did not appear to be the restaurant’s main focus.

Super fun location to eat at with great service. The burger was really great tasting. Just ask for no spring greens if you're anything like me.

The combined verdict

8.8

We both agreed that Chez Lucien delivered one of our strongest burger experiences, backed by excellent fries, very good service and a timeless Market atmosphere. The prices were slightly higher, but the quality and consistency made it an easy recommendation.
